DESCRIPTION: | Chloe is a long time admirer of the steam punk fashions. She is almost always seen with industrial goggles atop her head, fingerless glove/arm warmers, leather pants and some sort of tank top or knit shirt. In the cold, she will toss on a leather bomber jacket and matching scarf. Small framed, and fragile thinness doesn't keep her from carrying herself like a proud brute in most instances. Hair is often tousled, in need of a good brushing, and always loose around her shoulders. The only jewelry is a photo pendant of a frail woman resting around her neck. While her build, makeup and attire often make her appear very doll-like, she is anything but. She is not shy by any means, and it is easily seen in how she approaches others. Her voice has a natural raspy quality to it, probably picked up living in a polluted part of the city. |
BACKGROUND: | Born March 26, 1989 and lived in San Francisco, CA. She has no real memories of where she was actually born. Chloe lived with her mother (kinfolk), and had never known her father. He had been killed before she was born and while her mother told fanciful stories, Chloe was too young to understand much as a small child. It was a happy, well-adjusted childhood for a typical human girl until she was 7. By the time she had become a teenager, most of those stories had just become fairytales her mother told her before bed. She never imagined any of them to be truth. Without someone to continue the stories, and to introduce her to her roots, it was all she could do to remember them much at all. Chloe lost her mother at age 7 and found herself in the foster system, attending terrible schools and dealing with inattentive foster parents. Most of her time was spent gambling in small ways, or riling up classmates in all ways she found entertaining. This often led to a lot of afterschool brawls, where she learned the basics of fighting and more importantly, defending herself. There were very few nights she returned 'home' without black eyes or cuts covering her arms and legs. She questioned everything, usually authority figures, which landed her in hot water more than what any foster parent found acceptable. Due to this, she was passed around fairly often. It never much mattered since she was alright not fitting in with what she considered scum of the earth. The only possessions that Chloe kept was the pendant with her mother's picture around her neck and a deck of cards always in her hand or pocket. It wasn't an ordinary set of cards to her, not something bought in any convenience store, but cards her mother used to tell her stories about, the lucky deck of ancestors. The cards were fairly ratty and faded at this point, but she never cared- it was the only thing she remembered and had left from her youth. Chloe never took pity on her life or circumstances and was offended when others offered it. Despite all she saw and dealt with, she came out strong, vocal, and independent. There was rarely a time when she felt the need for other people around her or their attention. As far as she was concerned, people were merely something to manipulate and profit from. They had done her no good and she returned the favor whenever she could. When she wasn't engaged in a game of cards, she learned quick how to make herself invisible to others, often breaking into abandoned places and finding small places to hang out, that most would never bother to check, her escape from the world around her. It was here she practiced the cards, counting them, learning the deck, finding ways to manipulate the games. She bought food, and supplies from the little money she made taking advantage of braggarts in school, always sure they would win, but she had put far too much dedication into learning her cards to be beaten by the other kids. (Mind you, the cards were just plain old cards at this point, albeit old cards, and her tricks weren't much more than slight of hand, and card counting.) The first change came around 15 and was problematic. She knew very little of her roots or of anything wolf related, given that she had gotten lost in the public system. It was only nights before her change occurred that she was pulled from the streets by someone close to her real family, someone Chloe had never seen or heard of. The reassurances of being 'family' or 'friend' weren't easily accepted so it took locking her up to keep her safe during the transformation. The trauma of it had her in a state of severe paranoia for a brief period, refusing to accept all she was being told, insistent they had drugged her or done something far worse. To her, it made sense, who would notice she was missing, who would care? Once she had realized that she had no chance of escaping her conditions, she gave in, allowing them to train her. It was only then, they allowed themselves to show her they were just as she was, the same, a family. The rites of passage were long and brutal, and she had only the wits she had picked up through being a foster child to work with. Despite this, she had begun to feel like she fit in, come the end of the process. She found purpose in life and in herself. During her years with her new found family, she heard the good stories along with the bad about how the Garou were treated and how they lived. She heard about the wyrm, vampires, mages, and the constant threat against her kind. Anyone would be enraged, but for Chloe, it was heightened by the fact that she had lost all of this for so many years, robbed of what should have been her life. She couldn't fathom losing it once again to anyone or anything. She would fight. She had met Eli as he was travelling and she was training, and recalled the name of a sept he mentioned that would offer what she was looking for. At 23, she packed her things and set out to find a proper place to take up arms for her kind. Her deed name, 'Witty Sprite' was an accumulation of her witty banter and gambling, along with her tiny frame. They often teased her about looking more like a small elf, than a strong homid. Fetish- her deck of cards. The deck contains the essence of a mischievous spirit, manipulating the deck to benefit Chloe in many ways. She can change the deck or stack it in her favor when tempting others into a game of cards. In more extreme circumstances, they become weapons, throwing them as if they were sharp-bladed disks, and plucked out as easily. Even more fitting, given her best skills fall under defending herself, she can toss the deck up and watch them fall into a curtain of cards, much like a puff of smoke would shield a magician as he disappeared from sight. Level 1- Manip + Sub roll.- Changing or stacking the deck. Level 2- Dex + Athletics.- Weapons to be thrown. Level 3- Wits + Stealth.- Curtain of cards. Flaw- Bitter- She is bitter with human society. This obviously stems from being caught up in the system, but city dwelling humans would cause her to because easily irritated. Since her first change, and learning all about the Garou, this bitterness has only escalated. She nearly hates humankind and trusting a human is difficult and a long process. |
