DESCRIPTION: | Standing at 5'3" and only weighing 115 pounds, Aracelia does not look to be the typical blacksmith, especially in Garou society. However, the kinfolk's mass is primarily muscle, a lithe and dexterous body hides beneath her clothing. With long, black hair and green eyes with darker, tanned skin, Aracelia is every bit an obvious character of mixed heritage. Strong facial features and body show the apparent Fenris parentage, but the skin, hair color, and other features show her to also have some form of Spanish heritage. |
BACKGROUND: | Aracelia Ortega was born unwanted. Not in the sense that she was an accidental pregnancy, or simply unplanned by her parents. Rather, Aracelia is the product of the rape of an Uktena kinfolk by a Get of Fenris, during the pillaging of a Sept in Mexico. Her mother was lucky to not be killed straight out from the rape of the Fenris and the Rage coursing through his body, but battered and broken her mother carried on, picking up the remnants of what remained of her life. Slowly but surely, the signs of pregnancy began to show, and multiple times did Aracelia's mother consider simply terminating the pregnancy. But she could not take her own life, or that of an innocent child, no matter the sins of the father who had brutalized her so.
Eventually, Aracelia was born, and it was then that her father made his presence known once more. The Fenris watched his progeny in the fashion any Garou does; with only vested interest until it can be determined whether or not the child will turn out to simply be Kinfolk, or will emerge full of Gaia's rage a true warrior. When it became apparent by Aracelia's 16th year that she still had not changed, and did not look to hold the Rage within herself waiting to burst, the Fenris of course took his leave to pursue other glorious pursuits in other foreign lands. Aracelia however, did not have a complete detachment from the culture of her father, and had spent many days watching the Fenris in their daily routines of life. In particular, the crafting of their weapons. While many Fenris hold to the fact that a Garou's claws and natural weaponry are all that are needed, that Gaia's gift is sufficient, it is also well known that the Get of Fenris are a tribe known for truly magnificent works of art when it comes to the forge. This is where the ill-begotten kinfolk would devote her study. She watched for a time, one of the Fenris smiths as he worked, and spoke an interest in learning the craft herself.
For months, the Fenris refused, scoffing that a woman, and kinfolk no less, would ever be able to wield the hammer in such a way as to truly make a blade worthy of even a cub to carry. But after the time of harassment, perhaps more to show her wrong and buy himself some peace, the craftsman agreed to take her as an apprentice. Quickly, Aracelia learned, and her natural aptitude for the forge became apparent. Her mind and her soul seemed at peace, when the hammer was singing against steel, the white hot coals of the forge being her substitute for the Rage that she was born devoid of. And so she practiced her craft, and continued along into her journey as such. Earning for herself eventually the right to no longer be called apprentice. Coupled with this hallmark accomplishment in her life was bitter tragedy, however, as Araceliaa found herself losing her younger sister. While working in the forge, a group of gang members cornered the 15 year old sibling and forced themselves upon her, before finally killing her. For days, the girl was missing, until finally the local police found the body, chopped to pieces in an attempt to dispose of as much physical evidence as possible. Yet, for Araceliaa, losing her sister was not enough. She has had to contend with seeing the ghost of her sibling ever since, driving her to sleepless nights when the spirit will haunt her with questions such as, “Why didn't you go with me? Why did you send me there alone?” and the like, shouldering the blame onto her older sister.
The lessons of the forge however, were tempered by her mother, who took great pains to ensure Araceliaa knew the place of a female kinfolk as the housemaker, the perfect little doll for the Garou. How to cook, clean, to avert the eyes when addressed, to speak only when spoken to, was drilled into her core as a way to survive in the world in which kinfolk live. Much to her chagrin, Aracelia learned her place, being able to put on the airs expected. But her heart, belongs to the forge.
Aracelia has only recently heard of the Hunters Hunted, a Sept beseiged on all sides, with willing Garou to battle their enemies. Yet they have no master of the forge, no one with whom they can trust to arm them, and arm them well. Being able to combine her skills, with a Sept of War where she may be able to make a name for herself, stepping out of the shadow of her mentor. Or so she thinks. Perhaps here, she may find a theurge to help her put her sister truly to rest. Perhaps here, she will find peace with her mixed parentage, or perhaps she will learn truly, that all Garou, deep down inside, are all the same. |
